Dot Rullman

Dorothy Ann “Dot” Rullman, age 82, a lifelong resident of Dillsboro, passed away Monday afternoon, October 10, 2011 in Dillsboro. She was born May 26, 1929 to Harry Fleetwood Bruce and Emma Brooks Bruce, and graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1947. On May 22, 1948 she was married to R. Clinton Rullman, and they resided on Oak Street in Dillsboro on the family farm their entire married life. Dot was employed for a time at the post office, and she and Clint ran the farm together, until Clint passed away in June of 1999. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 292, and was active in auxiliary activities. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro. Dot was a pleasant person to be around, she loved to laugh, and would do anything for you. She would always pay people back for doing her a favor with a piece of pie. Dot loved her Diet Cokes, and just being around people. Although Dot and Clint were not blessed with any children, she was a special “mother” to her miniature schnauzer named “Fritz”, who she had for 14 years. Dot is survived by her niece, Sheila Rullman, of Dillsboro; her sister-in-law, Dana Rullman, of Dillsboro; several great nieces and nephews; a cousin, Charlie Brooks, and a close family friend, David Disbro, of Dillsboro. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro, with Pastor Richard Kolaskey officiating. Friends may meet her family at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials may be given in her memory to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 292 in Dillsboro. Arrangements are entrusted to Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro.
